Medical career talk makes most people think of a doctor or nurse. According to the Labor Bureau of Statistics, the largest growth of careers in the medical field is health technologists and health technicians.

Medical records, radiology personnel, and hygienists are a few examples of other career paths. Many of these career paths take one to two years to train for. Increased good health and longevity often results in a longer period of time in assisted living facilities as the inevitable decline happens. Larger urban areas result in many health care jobs diversifying and specializing into a specific aspect of medicine such as pediatrics or obstetrics. In addition, medicine is in a transformation period as research from biotechnology and gene therapy creates new fields, and new jobs. Many of these jobs do not follow the standard nine to five work week. There are flex schedules, rotation skills, part time work, and twelve hour four day work shifts.
